I Never Stop Shopping For Shoes

Olympic golden girl Rebecca Adlington confesses her addiction to shoes

U2 frontman Bono wants a bit of elevation
Obviously, I can't take too many as there's no room in the suitcases, but one pair would never be enough for me.
In a previous article, called 'Accident Waiting To Happen', I told you about a favourite pair of shoes which broke on holiday much to my dismay. But this unfortunate accident hasn't stopped me taking high heels with me. I can gauge the terrain when I get there.
Daytime is a different matter though, as we tend to do a lot of walking on holiday, so I need to be sensible. I usually pack a pair of wedged canvas shoes for the long strolls and a flat court pair for early evening jaunts.
I'm not very good with flat shoes to be honest. Partly because of my height but also I find them really hard to walk in. They play havoc with my calf muscles.
I guess in the end it's what you get used to but I think I'll still be wearing my high heels for many more years to come. And I see I'm not alone in preferring a bit of elevation. U2 singer Bono was spotted this week supporting a rather unflattering pair of giant heeled shoes while on holiday with his wife in St Tropez.
The article, which appeared on the Metro website, didn't mince its words. "Sack the stylist Bono, you look ridiculous" it reads, and I have to agree.
Anyway, despite having packed several pairs for my trip abroad, I have been known to buy shoes when I am on holiday too.
I remember purchasing a rather nice pair of slim-heeled black sandals while holiday in Lanzarote several years ago. I can always find them in my collection because that is the name given to them on my extensive list 'Black Lanzarote Sandals'.
I've also left shoes behind at my holiday destination on purpose. Like the pair of very cheap flip-flops I bought in Parga, Greece last year which didn't even last the two weeks!
NB: I read this week that Olympic golden girl Rebecca Adlington is addicted to shoes. Hey, all the best people are!
In an article on the Daily Mail website, reporter Neil Wilson, says that Rebecca's mum, Kay, promised her a reward of a pair of shoes of her choice if she qualified for the British team. She chose a pair of gold heels by Christian Louboutin.
Not only that, but the mayor of her home town of Mansfield, also promised her a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes as a reward for winning Olympic gold. Not bad.
Maybe I should take up swimming? Then again anyone who knows me will be laughing their socks off now.
