Welcome to my Shoe Box Blog

I can't walk past a shoe shop without going in or at least looking in the window and I have to be very strong willed not to spend my hard-earned cash on another pair.

My 200-plus pairs take up a large proportion of my spare bedroom, - if you want to stay over at my house you have to sleep on the living room sofa or floor - and they are all boxed and numbered. At one time I did take pictures but I just don't seem to have found the time yet to stick the photo on the outside of each of the shoebox.

You're probably thinking now that finding a particular pair of shoes would be a nightmare, but surprisingly it's not. I have a numbered list which corresponds with the number of each box and next to that a description. Not an ordinary, boring description for me. Black court pair would retrieve at least ten pairs! No for me it needs to be a detailed collection of words which has me imagining the exact pair in my head even though I may not have worn them for years. 'Velvet, studded, black court, stilettos from Rome' comes to mind as a good example.

The other day I was getting ready for work and a pair of shoes popped into my head which I knew would go perfectly with my outfit. I bought them in a sale about two years ago and I can honestly say I have only worn them once. Now if you are anything like me in the mornings, you haven't got the time to spit, let alone search for a pair of well hidden shoes. But I was suitably chuffed when one quick look at the list and a glance at the number and description, directed me straight to them in seconds ... well a couple of minutes anyway. I have to say they did look the part but by the end of the day I realised why I had only worn them once before, my feet were killing me!

Anyway, over the coming weeks I hope to share with you my many exploits with shoes. The funny stories that could only happen to me ... unless you tell me otherwise. The many bargains I've purchase that still give me a buzz everytime I wear them. And, of course the not so clever purchases that require the pain-threshold of a torture victim to wear but are still well worth it for the look.
